TVS Leads India’s EV Scooter Market in August 2025, Ola and Ather Close Behind

TVS Vs Ola

India’s electric two-wheeler market continues to buzz with action, and August 2025 was no different. According to the latest sales data, TVS Motor Company has taken the lead, outselling both established and new-age EV rivals.

TVS on Top

With 24,087 units sold, TVS secured the number one spot last month. The company’s strong performance highlights how traditional automakers are not just catching up but also dominating the EV game. TVS’s iQube scooter has been seeing consistent demand, helped by better availability and expanding charging infrastructure.

Ola Electric and Ather in Close Race

Ola Electric, which has been one of the most popular EV brands in India, came in second with 18,972 units sold. Meanwhile, Ather Energy sold 17,856 scooters, staying in the race and continuing its upward trend. Both brands have built loyal customer bases, especially in urban centers, but supply chain challenges and competition from legacy automakers are keeping the fight intense.

Hero and Bajaj Hold Strong

Among legacy players, Hero Electric sold 13,313 units, while Bajaj Auto clocked 11,730 sales. These figures show that the big names in India’s two-wheeler industry are firmly establishing themselves in the EV space, using their wide dealer networks and brand trust to win customers.

Smaller Players Make Their Mark

Greaves Electric Mobility reported 4,498 units, while Pure EV sold 1,779 units in August. Though smaller in scale, these companies continue to find buyers, especially in tier-2 and tier-3 markets where affordability plays a big role.

The Road Ahead

The numbers clearly show that India’s EV revolution is no longer driven by just startups. Established automakers like TVS, Hero, and Bajaj are matching, and in some cases overtaking, new-age players like Ola and Ather.

With government incentives, improving charging networks, and growing consumer interest in sustainable mobility, competition in the EV two-wheeler market is set to get even fiercer in the coming months. For buyers, this means more choices, better technology, and competitive pricing.
